Avast move file out of chest

It found the file in the boot scan and i apparently was able to move it at this time. I really cannot imagine that this is a real infection. It's a fairly fresh install of Windows 7 and has been carefully used. Also, the file comes up hot on another machine straight off of the Sims 2 CD. And VirusTotal only has 2 hits. I have seen it and just posted how to check for an FP at virustotal.

Yeah, i had already scanned with VirusTotal. I have been through this several times with other files. This is the first time i have not been able to move a file to the chest though. This is the first "hit" while using version 5. The other instances were with previous versions. Well, the false positive seems to be fixed, but I am still having problems with the virus vault. Now it will not restore the file out of the vault back into its original location nor can I extract it there.

It moved the file, along with the Sims Complete uninst file, during a boot time scan. Apparently the Sims Complete file is not an issue, as it successfully restored and extracted to its original location.

When i restore though, it does nothing. No error, nothing. So now I am wondering if it is an issue with the folder?? You say it does nothing, when you right click on the file in the chest and select Restore do you see image1? Read times. Rin Guest. Hi, I hope someone can help me because I'm sort of in a panic.

I've tried to search around but I don't think I've found the answer to my specific question. It started when I was using someone else's pendrive on my computer and Avast detected some viruses and trojans. I moved some of them to virus chest immediately and later when doing a boot-time scan moved the rest them to virus chest I deleted one file accidentally.

The problem is all the files in the pendrive are gone. Can I retrieve them without the virus? I'm using Avast 4. The problem is, right now I'm supposed to use this pendrive again and I suspect there would be some more virus because of this other computer. Please someone help me. I'm a bit tech-challenged so I would appreciate an easy to understand answer. Have a look in the avast! It may be that the Word files were infected with a virus. If so, you could export them from the chest and see if avast!
