HP Customer Support. Select your model. How does HP install software and gather data? I have a R that will only run on battery, not on AC. The AC charger is good, I had access to another charger. Have done a hard reset. Redone the ACPI. And it so happened that my computer has turned off automatically. I was asked me for help. I have tried almost everything to reset the CMOS. I removed the main and RTC batteries, took out the hard drive and let it set overnight.
Is there some capacitor I have to drain the power from? I have checked the system board and cannot not find any jumpers. Evo reply: Thanks for your prompt response. I am going to leave the batteries out of the Compaq for a few more days just to see. You never know.
If nothing else works, then the EVO is getting shipped to the trash heap. I will keep you informed. Compaq Evo Nc: I waited over a full week, finally put it back togeter, replaced the RTC battery battery, turned it on and pow. Asked me for the power-on password. Anybody need EVO salvage parts? It is not worth replacing the mainboard. I have a Compaq Evo Nv, which my grandfather gave me.
It has a locked bios and unfortunately he does not have the password. How can i reset the bios? Or is there another procedure. But thats it. There is no simple answer to this question. Could be just wrong settings. Are you running Windows XP? In most cases it should be set to Obtain an IP address automatically.
Is it? I have been having issues getting my Compaq F started. The other computer read the HD fine. Nothing shows on the screen — shut the lid and reopen it. If I remember correctly, sometimes the light on the front went off after doing this, but this may have been when I was testing without the battery in.
Try removing RAM modules one by one. Test the laptop with each module separately. Try installing RAM modules into different slots. Your description sounds like a problem with the LCD screen, not the cable or wire. I have a Compaq Presario V The screen is black when turned on. I know the screen itself is good. My computer works fine when hooked up to an external monitor.
Everything seems to be connecting fine. Can anyone help? Is there an easy way to toggle between external monitor and the laptop screen? David, Look at the keyboard. David The only way i know how is to go to your display properties and click settings then advanced, then click on graphics properties under Intel Graphics Media Accelerator driver.
If you have an external monitor there should be two options under display devices. Select the notebook option. If so please tell me where it is or how to get to it. Thanks, Don Zaron. I have a dell inspiron and it has the windows xp home edition on it and after the normal screen where there is that bar then 3 smaller green bars go through it it always says that the image w7dap Please help.
I have an HP Pavillion dvnr entertainment center laptop and the jack is loose. HP told me it was the adapter and i paid for a new adapter and still have the same issue. HP disregarded my telling them the jack feels loose and talked me into buying the adapter however I am having the same issues. Please tell me how to fix this without having to send HP my laptop because I am to the point of not trusting them anymore after the waste of money on the second adapter.
The power jack is soldered to the motherboard. If you send your laptop to HP, they will replace the whole motherboard and charge you tons of money. This could be bad connection between the video cable and LCD screen. Sometimes reconnecting the video cable on the back of the screen fixes the problem. Check out this guide. Besides that I never made start updvd. Try removing memory modules and test the laptop with each module separately. Just one line or many vertical lines?
If you get multiple vertical lines running though HP logo, this could be motherboard failure. But went i plug-in the battery charger, there is a light turned on it is look normal when battery charger is pluged and switch on.
When i bring it to computer service centre, they told me the motherboard was spoilt and need to change. But i refused to change. Now for your information, after some months, when i try luck to turn on the laptop, suddenly the laptop turn on. Everything going as normal. The system is okay. But few days later until now, my laptop is doing the same problem. It cannot turn on. Please help me to solve this. If the laptop starts intermittently like that, it could be one of the following: 1.
Failed memory module. Bad connection between the memory module and motherboard. Failed motherboard. I have a compaq presario I disassembled it and did organised the srews in a proper way ……I thought!
I did download the service manual for this presario, but the pictures are not detailed enough and my memory braincells is not that young anymore to get it together again. I would like to find a video or photos with more detail so i could see the proper places for parts better then is possible with the pictures from the service manual.
When I turn power button on the little lighting bolt light comes on but computer does not turn on is it in hibernaction of some kind how u fix it.
